Growth & Meta ads
Should Meta ads send traffic to a subscribe page or a lead form?
Short answer
A subscribe page. When I tested Meta lead forms they did worse, and my subscribe-page numbers beat the operators I know who use forms. The bigger reason is control: on your own page, you own what happens after the click.
I tested lead forms once. They lost. I haven't gone back.
Cost isn't even the main reason. A subscribe page on your own domain lets you put a survey and offers right after signup, the moment people are most engaged. A lead form ends inside Facebook.
Paid and organic visitors need different flows
Someone who found you on Google arrived with intent. They'll handle a longer signup. Paid Meta traffic needs one simple job: subscribe. Keep it single-purpose.
Track the button, not the page
- In Ads Manager, open Events Manager.
- Create a custom conversion and set up an event to test.
- When Meta loads your subscribe page, hover until the subscribe button is outlined and click it. Meta records that click as your conversion.
- Repeat for every separate site.
Custom conversions often take 3 to 24 hours to register, and Meta tells you nothing in the meantime. People assume they broke it and redo it. Wait a day. Copy a working setup to get 90% of the way, and YouTube covers the last 10%.
Keep your account simple
One business portfolio, one ad account, staff permissions per page. I made an accidental extra portfolio that Meta won't let me delete. If your ads reach the right pages, don't burn a week cleaning it up.
