How do I package newsletter, social and events into one local sponsorship?

Short answer

Get every channel running first: newsletter, website, social, and events as an upgrade. Then sell packages that span them, with category exclusivity for the big advertisers. Add creative pieces like giveaways and reels. A strong offer matters more than the exact price, but $1,000 a month won't suit every business.

"Have all channels up and running: socials, newsletter, website, events. When you go to sponsors, here are our packages: we'll do this on the website, this in the newsletter, this on social, and events is an upgrade."

That's how I coach local-community operators. A single newsletter ad is easy to say no to. A package that makes a business visible everywhere locals look is a different conversation.

What goes into a package?

  • Newsletter: primary ad, recurring.
  • Website: homepage ad or a story about the business.
  • Social: posts, carousels or reels.
  • Podcast: a guest slot, if you have a show. I've suggested bundling a podcast appearance, two Instagram shout-outs and the newsletter.
  • Events: as an upgrade.
  • Creative extras: giveaways beat plain ad placements.

For the biggest advertisers, add category exclusivity: one roofer, one bank, one home builder for the year.

Who buys multi-channel packages?

Banks, home builders, estate planners, real estate agents, even the city. Fun brands are the best fit for heavy video.

How do I add video without becoming an agency?

A sponsor-sales specialist in my mastermind had an idea I extended. Instead of "give me $300 and I'll give you an ad," it's "for $500 I'll put an ad in the newsletter and make you four reels." You're giving them content they can use themselves.

But agency work is stressful, and small businesses are chaos. Two alternatives:

  1. Be a consultant. Teach them or their team how to make the content instead of doing the work.
  2. Subcontract it. I found a videographer who wants this work but doesn't have the sales skills or the foot in the door. Could you find someone to do it for $700 while you're the sales guy? The media company is the foot in the door.

What do packages sell for?

  • An Instagram-first guest on my podcast sells a $1,500 package with a giveaway, a voiceover reel and inclusion in a list reel. Buyers keep asking for annual contracts, so he thinks he's underpriced.
  • A commission rep on one of my newsletters quoted three months of features plus one reel at $4,500.
  • One operator bundles a postcard slot, a newsletter ad, an article and a social post for $1,200 to $1,500 a month.

Does the price matter that much?

Less than the offer. Get the packaging and the offer buttoned up first. Pricing matters less than a strong offer, though $1,000 a month won't suit every business. Small shops need a smaller shelf. See how to tier your offers.
