Breaking Down Our Newsletter Advertising Journey

I want to share some transparent numbers and insights from our recent experience running ads to find advertisers for our newsletter.

This was our first major push to monetize through advertising, and the results have been enlightening.

Campaign Results

Here is how the numbers broke down:

  • Generated approximately 100 leads
  • Received 20 responses to our email outreach
  • Scheduled 11 calls with potential advertisers
  • Closed 4 deals at $250/month for 6-month contracts

Starting Point

This is just our starting point to test the waters.

We wanted to understand what is possible and how the process works.

These deals are specifically for our “corporate style” newsletters, where we do not have a local person on the ground.

Key Insights

We launched in this location purely because we identified it as a promising market.

An important note: we deliberately chose not to make cold calls, even though we had phone numbers for all leads.

Next Steps

We are now preparing to hire a dedicated salesperson.

With a true sales professional pushing 10x harder than we have, we expect to see significantly better results.

Conclusion

Our initial ad sales campaign has given us valuable baseline metrics and proved there is genuine interest in our newsletter advertising offerings.
